The Croatian electricity transmission system operator, HOPS, has initiated preparations for an upcoming auction aimed at securing electricity to address transmission system losses. This auction will be conducted through the CROPEX trading platform, which serves as a key marketplace for electricity transactions in the region.
Scheduled for April 28, 2024, from 11:00 to 12:00, the auction will focus on procuring electricity for the entire calendar year of 2027. Participants will have the opportunity to submit their bids during this one-hour window. The auction is designed to cover a delivery capacity of 10 MWh/h every day, translating to a total volume of 87,600 MWh throughout the year.
This initiative reflects HOPS’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of Croatia’s electricity transmission network. By addressing transmission losses through strategic procurement, HOPS aims to enhance operational stability and support the overall energy market framework in Croatia.
The planned auction underscores the importance of active participation from market players, as it provides a platform for them to engage directly in the procurement process. As Croatia continues to integrate more renewable energy sources into its grid, managing transmission losses becomes increasingly critical for maintaining system integrity and operational efficiency.
