A consortium consisting of Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute (SDEPCI) and China North Industries Group International Corporation (Norinco) has secured the contract to build the 99 MW Korlat solar power plant for Croatia’s state-owned power utility, HEP, as announced by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The contract, valued at around 60 million euros, will see the consortium handle all aspects of the project, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and testing. The solar facility is expected to be completed by April 23, 2028.
The EBRD had previously committed to providing a loan of up to 31.6 million euros to assist HEP in the development and operation of the Korlat solar power plant. This funding is part of Croatia’s broader green energy transition and supports HEP’s decarbonization strategy. The project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 28,899 tons annually.
Located in northern Dalmatia, the Korlat solar power plant is a key element of HEP’s solar energy initiative. A portion of the facility will be built on the site of the existing Korlat wind farm, which has a capacity of 58 MW.
