Bulgaria, Parliament voted to exempt from excise duty electricity, natural gas and LNG

Bulgarian Parliament voted to exempt from excise duty electricity, natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) until 30 June 2025.

The measure aims to support businesses and consumers amid spiking energy prices. The European Commission will be notified.

The MPs also voted to reduce to 9 % (from 20 %) the VAT for central heating and natural gas deliveries. The new rate will apply until 1 July 2023.
