According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the country exported electricity worth some 424 million euros in 2021, which is the best export result in the country’s history.

Revenues from electricity exports in 2021 rose by 66.9 % year-on-year, mainly due to significant increase of electricity prices in the second half of the year.

At the same time, BiH imported 112 million euros of electricity, which is 2.2 times more compared to 2020. The reason for the increase is the incident at EPBiH’s coal-fired power plant Kakanj and the strike at EPBiH’s coalmines, both happening in the second half of 2021.
