The Republic of Srpska (RS) is moving forward with a significant renewable energy initiative as local firm SolarWin has submitted a concession request to develop a solar power plant in Gacko. This project, with an estimated investment of €85 million, is poised to be one of the largest solar undertakings in the region, reflecting a growing commitment to renewable energy sources.
In response to SolarWin’s proposal, the RS Ministry of Energy and Mining has launched a public call for bids as of mid-December. This marks the commencement of the formal selection process for developers interested in constructing and operating this substantial solar facility, which is expected to play a pivotal role in the region’s energy landscape.
The planned solar power plant will feature an installed capacity of 200 MW, according to information from the RS Concessions Commission. The facility is projected to generate approximately 260 GWh of electricity annually, with all output earmarked for sale on the open electricity market. The construction site spans about 203.7 hectares of state-owned land, underscoring the project’s scale and potential impact on local energy production.
The awarded concession could extend for a maximum duration of 50 years from the signing date of the agreement. Notably, under the tender conditions, SolarWin will receive a 10% evaluation bonus based on technical, economic, and financial criteria. This advantage may enhance its competitiveness in the bidding process for this significant renewable energy project.
