Albania has approved the development of two large-scale solar power plants in the Fier region, adding 140 MW of new renewable capacity to the national pipeline. The projects are set to be built in southwestern Albania following government approval. Completion is expected within three years.
Developers and project timeline
The solar facilities will be developed by domestic companies Fos Solar and Euron Solar PV. Both projects are planned for the Fier region and are expected to reach completion within a three-year timeframe after approval. The approvals relate to expanding Albania’s renewable energy generation capacity.
Euron Solar PV 100 MW concession term
Euron Solar PV has been authorized to construct a 100 MW solar power plant. Under a long-term concession framework, the company will have the right to manage the facility for 49 years once it becomes operational. The authorization establishes the operating period following construction completion.
Fos Solar 40 MW operating period
Fos Solar will develop a second plant with a capacity of 40 MW. The project will operate under the same long-term arrangement, with Fos Solar granted a 49-year operating period after construction is completed. The approvals support private investment conditions for the two developments.
Fier region solar expansion context
The approvals reflect Albania’s effort to diversify its electricity generation mix and attract private capital into renewable energy infrastructure. Fier has been identified as one of Albania’s most active solar development zones, supported by favorable irradiation conditions and available land resources. Together, the two facilities are expected to add clean generation capacity upon completion.
