Serbia: VE Rakova Bara seeks approval for 150 MW wind farm in Kucevo

Local company VE Rakova Bara has submitted a request to the Ministry of Environmental Protection to determine whether a full environmental impact assessment is required for the planned Rakova Bara wind farm in the municipality of Kucevo.

The project is designed to cover 142,361 square meters and feature 19 turbines with a total installed capacity of up to 150 MW. Electricity generated at the site will be transmitted through the Rakova Bara substation into the 400 kV network, connected to the existing Drmno–HPP Djerdap 1 transmission line.

Preliminary wind measurements at the Vrtec location, conducted since 2022, have confirmed the technical feasibility of the project. The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has already issued location conditions, enabling the investor to proceed with further permitting steps.

Once operational, the Rakova Bara wind farm is expected to supply clean electricity to tens of thousands of households, support Serbia’s renewable energy expansion, and contribute to the country’s commitments under the EU Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. The project is also anticipated to generate local employment during construction and operation, boosting the regional economy and attracting further green investments.
