Serbia increased excise duties on petroleum products following a partial reversal of a temporary tax reduction introduced earlier this year. A government decision effective from 22 to 28 June sets higher excise rates for key fuel categories. The new rates are about 12.5% higher than the previous week, according to the decision.
Higher excise rates for petrol and diesel
The excise duty on unleaded petrol has been raised to €0.55 per liter, up from €0.49 per liter. Diesel excise now stands at €0.57 per liter, compared with €0.51 per liter previously. The rate for leaded petrol has increased to €0.59 per liter from €0.52 per liter.
Temporary May reduction partially reversed
The latest changes follow a temporary reduction introduced in May, when Serbia cut fuel excise duties by around 20% from standard levels. The adjustment was linked to market conditions at the time of the May decision. The current excise rates apply during the current pricing period.
Future changes will depend on subsequent government decisions, with adjustments scheduled only after further policy updates are issued.
