Rompetrol Rafinare has successfully finalized the mechanical phase of its maintenance program at the Petromidia Năvodari and Vega Ploiești refineries, a critical step towards restoring operational capacity. The company has announced that the restart of production will occur in phases over the coming days, adhering to stringent safety and operational control protocols.
The maintenance initiative encompassed an extensive array of technical tasks, with over 700 individual activities performed. This included the replacement of catalysts in six significant process units and thorough inspections of approximately 900 pieces of equipment, which involved static, rotating, and electrical systems. Additionally, nearly 1,200 pipelines underwent testing and verification to ensure their integrity and functionality.
Simultaneously, Rompetrol Rafinare achieved a significant regulatory milestone by renewing and extending essential operating certifications from Romanian authorities, specifically ISCIR and CNCIR. As the maintenance process approaches its conclusion, both refineries are anticipated to progressively resume their supply of petroleum products to the market, which is crucial for meeting current demand from both producers and consumers.
This maintenance shutdown is part of Rompetrol Rafinare’s routine operational strategy, which includes major turnarounds every four years alongside intermediate stoppages biennially. The company emphasizes that these scheduled interventions are vital for maintaining safe operations, ensuring technological reliability, and adhering to environmental regulations.
