Romanian renewable energy contractor Parapet has partnered with real estate investment platform MetaWealth to develop a utility-scale battery energy storage system in Neamț County. The project is planned for the village of Dumbrava. The companies have not disclosed the investment value or a construction timeline.
BESS design and grid connection details
The facility is designed with an installed capacity of 50 MW and a storage capacity of 100 MWh. It will include 20 battery units and five power conversion system (PCS) units. A new 20/110 kV substation and transformer will be built to connect the site to Romania’s national electricity grid.
Parapet’s 2026 renewable project pipeline
The agreement is part of a broader set of new project wins for Parapet in 2026. Earlier in the year, the company announced engineering and construction contracts covering more than 1 GW of renewable energy projects scheduled for delivery in 2026. The portfolio includes approximately 700 MW of solar and wind capacity in Romania. It also includes around 410 MWh of battery storage.
The same set of contracts covers additional solar projects outside Romania, including 217 MW across Germany and Italy. These figures were included in Parapet’s earlier announcement about the 2026 delivery pipeline.
International solar partnerships with Alerion Clean Power
Parapet is also expanding internationally through partnerships with other developers. In late 2025, the company signed agreements with Italian renewable energy firm Alerion Clean Power. The deal covers the construction of seven solar parks with a combined capacity of 80.8 MW. The projects are located across Romania and Italy.
Role within Romania’s grid flexibility buildout
The new battery storage development adds to Romania’s shift toward grid flexibility solutions. The country is integrating more variable renewable energy and strengthening its balancing infrastructure. The latest BESS project aligns with that broader operational focus as described in the announcement.
