The inauguration of the Tuzla-Podisor gas pipeline marks a significant milestone, with nearly half a million households and public institutions set to benefit from natural gas supply. ANRE Vice President Mircea Man highlighted that the pipeline, part of Romania’s 2024–2031 national gas transmission development plan, was approved in December 2024. Once fully operational, it will provide access to natural gas for hundreds of thousands of consumers.

The Tuzla-Podisor pipeline will be essential in transporting gas from the Black Sea and connecting to other regional sources, including the Trans-Balkan and Vertical Corridors, and the BRHA pipeline. This project will strengthen Romania’s energy network and enhance regional integration. Notably, one of its most technically demanding features is the underpass beneath the Danube River. Stretching 1,815 meters and reaching a maximum depth of 63 meters, the underpass is one of Europe’s most complex horizontal directional drilling operations, requiring advanced equipment and overcoming challenging geological conditions.
