Romania has connected a 120 MWh battery energy storage system associated with Teiuș to the grid following completion of the project in Alba County. The development adds to the country’s installed storage capacity as part of its broader renewable energy build-out.
Project delivery and contracting parties
The battery system was delivered by Allview Energy, the renewable energy arm of Romanian technology company Visual Fan. The work was carried out on behalf of Teiuș Solar, a local subsidiary of Danish renewable developer Eurowind Energy.
Visual Fan implemented the project under a turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract. The scope covered system design, equipment procurement, construction works, installation, technical integration, testing and final commissioning.
Storage role and scale within Romania
The completed battery system is described as among the more significant storage projects currently operating in Romania. The facility aligns with a growing focus on balancing intermittent renewable generation while supporting grid stability and flexibility.
The project followed a contract awarded to Visual Fan in 2025. At the time, the agreement for development of the storage facility was valued at more than €16.6 million.
Link to Teiuș solar commissioning
Eurowind Energy commissioned the Teiuș solar power plant with an installed capacity of 69 MW in April 2025. The storage deployment is positioned alongside Romania’s expansion of renewable capacity through large-scale battery systems.
Large-scale batteries are intended to store surplus electricity and support grid reliability as the power system transitions toward greater flexibility. The completed project adds additional storage capacity following its grid connection in Alba County.
