2025 generation and financial performance
Slovenia’s Krško nuclear power plant produced 5.547 TWh of electricity in 2025, slightly above plan, according to its annual report. The same report shows the plant recorded revenue of €240 million, up by €13 million year-on-year. Availability and capacity factors remained above 91%, reflecting strong operational performance across the year.
Refuelling outage and operating cycle into 2026
A scheduled refueling and maintenance outage was completed in the autumn. The unit then entered a new 18-month operating cycle. With no major outage planned for 2026, plant management expects higher output in that year and is targeting more than 6 TWh of generation, subject to stable operations and no unplanned disruptions.
Cooling constraints and cost pressures
The company said summer restrictions tied to Sava River water temperature remain a potential operational constraint. It noted that high-temperature periods can limit cooling capacity. In parallel, rising costs for nuclear equipment, materials, and services continue to pressure operating expenses across the sector.
Feasibility study for lifetime extension
The Krško nuclear plant is preparing a feasibility study to extend its operating lifetime from 60 to 80 years. Completion is expected later this year. The work is described as a step in assessing long-term nuclear generation strategy in Slovenia.
