The Hungarian Ministry of Energy announced that more than 20,000 households have applied for subsidies to install solar panels and battery storage as part of a scheme launched in January. According to the Ministry, eligible households could receive a total of over 207 million euros in subsidies.
In response to high demand, the budget for the program was increased this summer by 76 million euros, raising the total allocation to 268 million euros. This expansion is expected to support solar panel and battery storage investments for more than 25,000 households.
Under the scheme, households can apply for up to 12,600 euros in support, covering two-thirds of the investment costs. Currently, over 280,000 homes in Hungary have already installed solar panels.
