The Višegrad hydropower plant, operated by the state-owned ERS “Hidroelektrane na Drini,” recorded an electricity generation of 88.34 GWh in December 2025. This figure represents an 8.8% decrease from November’s output of 96.83 GWh, although it remains significantly higher than the 73.18 GWh produced in December 2024.
For the entire year, HPP Višegrad achieved a total production of 781.8 GWh in 2025, marking a positive trend compared to the previous year’s total of 733 GWh. This increase is attributed to improved hydrological conditions and enhanced operational efficiencies throughout the year.
Commissioned in 1989, the Višegrad hydropower plant has an installed capacity of 315 MW, comprised of three units each rated at 105 MW. The facility typically generates approximately 1,010 GWh annually, with its highest recorded output occurring in 2010 at 1,283.05 GWh.
The fluctuations in monthly output highlight the variability inherent in hydropower generation, influenced by seasonal water availability and operational factors. As the region continues to adapt to changing environmental conditions, HPP Višegrad’s performance will be crucial for energy stability and supply in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
