The Višegrad hydropower plant, operated by the subsidiary Hidroelektrane na Drini of the power utility ERS, has demonstrated a significant boost in electricity production for April 2026. The facility generated 110.36 GWh, reflecting a notable increase of 16.5% from March’s output of 94.72 GWh. However, this figure is slightly lower than the 113.76 GWh recorded in April of the previous year.
In terms of annual performance, HPP Višegrad produced a total of 781.8 GWh in 2025, marking an improvement over the 733 GWh achieved in 2024. Cumulatively, the plant has generated 510.76 GWh so far in 2026, indicating a strong trajectory as the year progresses.
The hydropower facility was commissioned in 1989 and boasts an installed capacity of 315 MW (3 × 105 MW). It typically averages an annual generation of approximately 1,010 GWh. The plant’s peak performance occurred in 2010, when it reached a record output of 1,283.05 GWh.
This recent uptick in production underscores the operational resilience and capacity of HPP Višegrad within Bosnia and Herzegovina’s energy landscape, as it continues to play a vital role in meeting regional electricity demands.
