The Višegrad hydropower plant, operated by the subsidiary Hidroelektrane na Drini of the power utility ERS, has reported a significant surge in electricity generation. In January 2026, the facility produced 161.69 GWh, marking a remarkable 155% increase from December 2025’s output of 88.34 GWh. This uptick is also notable compared to January 2025, when production was recorded at 89.2 GWh.
For the entirety of 2025, HPP Višegrad generated a total of 781.8 GWh, reflecting a steady increase from 733 GWh in 2024. This consistent growth in annual output underscores the plant’s operational efficiency and capacity to meet rising energy demands.
Commissioned in 1989, HPP Višegrad boasts an installed capacity of 315 MW, divided into three units of 105 MW each. The facility typically achieves an average annual generation of about 1,010 GWh. The peak production record was established in 2010, when the plant generated an impressive 1,283.05 GWh of electricity.
