Romanian renewable developer Enexus plans to install 50 MWh of battery storage alongside two solar projects in Titu, Dâmbovița county. The development extends Enexus’s cooperation with LONGi beyond photovoltaic modules. The two sites are designed as hybrid installations combining solar generation with batteries.
Hybrid project scope in Titu
The hybrid facilities will pair 55 MW of solar generation with battery storage. Enexus has already installed more than 200 MW of LONGi solar modules in projects developed since 2025. The Titu programme represents Enexus’s first battery order with LONGi.
Battery units, cooling and grid integration
LONGi will supply 10 utility-scale battery units for the Titu projects. The units will use liquid cooling and integrated medium-voltage skids. The equipment is intended to simplify construction and reduce additional infrastructure required at the sites.
Liquid cooling is expected to maintain more stable battery-cell temperatures, supporting operating performance and reducing thermal stress. The medium-voltage integration is also intended to shorten installation and commissioning schedules.
Market role for storage alongside solar
The batteries are intended to shift part of Enexus’s solar output from lower-priced daytime periods into higher-value hours. Depending on market access and the final operating configuration, the system may also provide balancing, frequency and other grid-support services.
Romania’s expanding solar fleet is increasing demand for flexible generation assets. High photovoltaic output can depress midday electricity prices, while evening demand continues to rely on thermal generation or imports. Hybrid projects are described as a way to reduce curtailment exposure and create additional revenue streams, with economics dependent on connection terms, balancing-market rules and intraday price spreads.
The Titu projects are also framed as part of a broader shift in Romania from standalone renewable development toward integrated generation and storage.
