The Omišalj LNG terminal in Croatia is preparing for an auction of unallocated regasification capacity, set for February 2. This auction, organized by LNG Hrvatska, will offer volumes that were not assigned during previous allocation rounds, specifically targeting gas years from 2026/2027 to 2029/2030 and extending to the periods of 2037/2038 to 2039/2040.
The capacity available for this auction includes slots that remained unbooked during the May auction last year and earlier allocation efforts. This strategic move aims to optimize the utilization of the terminal’s infrastructure and enhance its role in the regional gas market.
The auction will be conducted through the PRISMA European Capacity Platform, a widely recognized system for managing gas infrastructure capacity across Europe. This platform facilitates a transparent and efficient bidding process, ensuring fair access for participants.
Eligibility to participate in the auction is extended to both existing terminal users with valid contracts and new customers. However, companies looking to enter the bidding process for the first time must submit a registration agreement with LNG Hrvatska by January 16 to qualify.
This upcoming auction highlights Croatia’s ongoing efforts to bolster its energy infrastructure and enhance regional energy security. By releasing additional regasification capacity, the Omišalj terminal aims to meet growing demand and support the diversification of energy sources within Southeast Europe.
