It is estimated that the potential of oil reserves of Croatia and the region are 740 million tons. If it is proven that these reserves are credible, then it means that Croatia can count on 267 million oil equivalent in potential resources, or 184 tons, which will be turned into fuel.
According to the academician Mirko Zelic ,this is the one of the reasons that Croatia retains ownership of its oil and gas company INA. Zelić stated this during the lecture about Oil and gas reserves of Croatia, which was held at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (CASA) in Zagreb.
According to him, the annual consumption of Croatia and the region is 3 million tons. If Croatia starts to use these reserves that means it will solve its oil problems over the next 60 years.
