Croatia: Energy production declines in January 2025, imports rise

Croatia’s net electricity production in January 2025 was 1,457 GWh, down 4.1% from January 2024. Hydropower plants contributed 45.4% (662 GWh), thermal plants 24.8% (361 GWh), wind farms 22.5% (328 GWh), and solar 1.7% (25 GWh). Electricity imports rose by 20% to 1,068 GWh, while exports increased by 7.9% to 763 GWh.

Natural gas production grew by 10.5% to 63 million cubic meters, while imports fell by 18.7% to 267 million cubic meters. Crude oil production declined by 2.4% to 41,000 tons. Petroleum product output surged to 320,000 tons from 21,000 tons last year due to the Rijeka refinery turnaround.
