The Bulgarian Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (KEVR) has approved a 14.3% reduction in the wholesale natural gas price for April 2025, bringing the price down to approximately 38.3 euros per MWh, excluding VAT and excise duty. This follows a 3.8% increase in the wholesale price for March 2025.

KEVR explains that the price structure for April includes the full volume of Azeri natural gas delivered through the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector (IGB) under a long-term agreement with Azerbaijan. These deliveries will account for 68.66% of the natural gas consumption in April and are key to ensuring a competitive price for consumers. Additionally, Bulgargaz has secured a contract for liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies through a tender that set a minimum delivery price and payment terms. The price structure for April also incorporates gas from the Chiren underground storage facility.
