In a notable financial performance, Romania’s state-controlled natural gas producer Romgaz reported a consolidated net profit of approximately €656.8 million for the year 2025, reflecting a 4.4% increase from the previous year. This growth underscores the company’s resilience in a challenging energy market.

The company achieved group revenues of around €1.6 billion, which marks a modest annual rise of 1.2%. Concurrently, total operating expenses saw a slight decrease of 1.4% year-on-year, amounting to roughly €976 million. This improvement in cost management has been pivotal in enhancing profitability metrics across the organization.

Operational efficiency was further evidenced by an increase in EBITDA, which rose by 7.9% to approximately €880 million. EBIT also advanced by 6.5%, reaching around €740 million. These figures indicate that Romgaz has effectively navigated operational challenges while maintaining stable revenue growth.

However, the operational performance exhibited mixed results. Natural gas production totaled 4.955 billion cubic meters, reflecting a marginal decrease of 0.2% compared to 2024 levels. In contrast, electricity generation experienced a more significant decline, falling by 14.8% to 880.3 GWh, highlighting potential areas for improvement in energy output.

The company’s balance sheet showed substantial growth during the year, with total assets increasing to nearly €5 billion, up from about €4 billion in 2024. Liabilities also rose, reaching approximately €1.58 billion, compared to around €1.15 billion at the end of the previous year. This expansion indicates a strengthening financial position amidst evolving market dynamics.

Despite experiencing slightly lower production volumes, Romgaz successfully enhanced its overall profitability through stable revenue streams and disciplined cost management strategies, while simultaneously bolstering its asset base and financial health.
