Dutch-based solar developer Photon Energy has announced the commissioning of a new 7.5 MW solar power plant in Romania. This facility, located near Faget in western Romania, is the company’s third plant in the area and is expected to produce approximately 11.1 GWh of clean energy annually. The energy generated will be sold on the market without any government support or power purchase agreements (PPAs).
Photon Energy Group CEO Georg Hotar highlighted that this new plant brings the company’s total portfolio in Romania to twelve power plants with a combined installed capacity of 48.4 MW. Globally, Photon Energy now operates 100 plants with a total capacity of 140.3 MW.
Additionally, the company plans to commission another 3.2 MW of solar capacity in Sarulesti, southeastern Romania, by the end of the year. Earlier this year, Photon Energy also announced the commissioning of a 3.9 MW solar power plant near Faget.
