CEO of Montenegrin state-owned power utility EPCG Nikola Rovcanin said that the company exported 25 million euros worth of electricity in the first two months of 2022.
Rovcanin said that due to the poor hydrological situation, the start of the regular overhaul of coal- fired thermal power plant Pljevlja was postponed to 15 April. He expects a positive outcome of the negotiations on the future of TPP Pljevlja, as its environmentally oriented reconstruction could start by June.
He confirmed that EPCG exported 109 GWh of electricity in January-February, worth 25.7 million euros, but in the coming months the company will be forced to import electricity. Poord hydrological situation has already took its toll as electricity generation of hydropower plants in the first two months of the year was only 78 % of the plan.
This is the reason why regular overhaul of TPP Pljevlja was postponed. It is believed that water flows on river will be more favorable in mid-April. The overhaul of TPP Pljevlja is expected to last for 45 days.
