ENEVO Group has signed a major EPC contract with Austrian renewable energy developer Kraftfeld for a utility-scale battery energy storage system in Draganesti-Olt in southern Romania. The agreement expands ENEVO’s presence in the regional energy storage market.

Scope of engineering, procurement and construction

Under the contract, Kraftfeld will lead project development. ENEVO Group will carry out the full scope of engineering, procurement and construction works. This includes the design and build of the facility, along with an associated high-voltage substation and grid connection infrastructure.

Project capacity and operating timeline

The planned battery energy storage system is designed for 110 MW of power output and 220 MWh of storage capacity. The system is intended to store excess electricity during periods of high generation and release it back into the grid when demand increases or when market conditions require additional supply. Construction is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2026.

Commercial operation is expected in early 2027. Once completed, the project is set to contribute to Romania’s growing energy storage infrastructure. It will also strengthen ENEVO Group’s portfolio of battery projects in the region.

Pipeline expansion for ENEVO Group

After signing the agreement, ENEVO Group’s combined pipeline of operational and under-construction storage assets has surpassed 1 GWh. Kraftfeld is headquartered in Vienna and continues to expand its renewable energy footprint across Central and Eastern Europe. Its focus includes large-scale solar and battery storage investments.
