Electricity generation in Bulgaria between 1 January and 14 April 2024 was 16% lower compared to 2023 and reached 11.59 TWh, according to the data published by the transmission system operator ESO.
In the same period, electricity consumption decreased by 5%, while electricity imports amounted to 3 GWh.
Baseload power plants (coal and nuclear) produced 9.18 TWh of electricity in 2024, which is 22% less than in 2023.
The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources in the transmission network rose by 43% to 764.6 GWh, while RES share in the distribution network increased by 24% to 787.7 GWh.
