Bulgargaz, the Bulgarian state-owned gas supplier, has secured a 10-year wholesale gas licence in Serbia. The permit authorises the company to carry out commercial gas trading on the Serbian market. The development extends Bulgargaz’s trading footprint across Southeastern and Central Europe.

Bulgargaz already holds licences in Greece, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia. Its subsidiary, Bulgargaz North, is authorised to trade in Moldova. Together, the authorisations cover multiple jurisdictions across the region.

Transmission-network user registration for cross-border access

Bulgargaz is also registered as a transmission-network user in several regional markets, including Serbia. This registration provides access to cross-border infrastructure used to move gas between supply zones. The combination of trading permissions and transmission-network status supports activity across interconnected systems.

Impact on regional sourcing and volume redirection

In Serbia, the entry of another licensed regional supplier can broaden commercial sourcing options as the domestic market becomes more connected with Bulgaria, Hungary and other neighbouring gas systems. For Bulgargaz, holding transmission access alongside wholesale licences across multiple jurisdictions is intended to improve its ability to redirect volumes based on regional price spreads, infrastructure availability and customer demand.
