The Director for Supply and Trade at the state-owned power utility EPBiH, Nevad Ikanovic, recently met with representatives from the Federation of BiH Employers’ Association (UPFBiH) to discuss electricity supply arrangements for 2025. The meeting also focused on the new provisions under the FBiH Electricity Law, which, as of September 1, 2024, have led to some customers losing their right to public service electricity supply. These changes, however, do not affect household customers, small customers, or those with particular social importance, as defined by EPBiH. These groups will maintain their entitlement to public electricity supply services.
Despite the wholesale market prices being about 10% higher than the conditions outlined by the Government’s special price control measures for 2024, EPBiH has decided to offer contracts for 2025 under the terms set by these price controls. As part of this approach, the utility has limited price increases for long-term market customers to a maximum of 10% compared to the 2024 rates.
UPFBiH representatives expressed their readiness to assist in the process of signing contracts for 2025, specifically for customers who have lost their entitlement to public service supply and now fall under the market supply category. EPBiH has called on customers whose market supply contracts are set to expire on December 31, 2024, to renew or enter into new contracts in a timely manner.
Under the new FBiH Electricity Law, customers who do not select a market supplier by the expiration of their contract will be entitled to backup supply services for up to 90 days. However, these customers must sign a backup supply contract within eight days of the start of the backup supply.
