Total electricity consumption in North Macedonia in January 2023 amounted to 709,217 MWh

Total electricity consumption in North Macedonia in January 2023 amounted to 709,217 MWh, natural gas consumption amounted to 33.29 million cubic meters, coal consumption reached 564,355 tons, while the consumption of petroleum products stood at 105,213 tons.

According to the data from State Statistical Office, 100 % of the consumed electricity in January was covered by domestic production, while 99.8 % of the total coal consumption was used for electricity production.

Total net production of electricity in Macedonia in January 2023 stood at 745,046 MWh, which is by 23.3 % higher compared to the same month last year. 426,941 MWh or 57.3 % was produced at thermal power plants (+ 32.3 % compared to January 2022), 186,013 MWh or 25 % was produced at hydropower plants (+ 22.7 %), 110,490 MWh or 14.8 % in CHP plants (+ 2.6 %) and 15,606 MWh or 2.09 % was produced by Bogdanci wind farm.

Production at biogas power plants was 4,524 MWh, while solar power plants produced 1,473 MWh of electricity in January.
