In the first ten months of 2020, electricity consumption amounted to 10.1 TWh which is by 6.6 % less compared to the same period last year. This is a consequence of this year’s partial shutdown due to the corona crisis.
Consumption was lower in both key monitored groups, with direct customer consumption in that period reaching 1.25 TWh, which is almost 20 % less than last year, while the consumption of five distribution companies amounted to 8.5 TW of electricity, which is a 5.6 % decrease. The only bright spot in 2020 is pump-storage HPP Avce, the only such facility in Slovenia, which consumed 312.3 GWh of electricity for the needs of pumping in the first ten months of the year, which is by 2 % more than planned. In the January-October 2020 period, Slovenia imported 5.99 TWh of electricity or about 76 % of last year’s amount imported in the first ten months, while electricity exports dropped slightly by 0.7 % and amounted to 7.63 TWh.
