Slovenian company HSE plans to build a 140 MW floating solar power plant on Druzmirje Lake to compensate for the future reduction of electricity production at the coalfired thermal power plant Sostanj. HSE is also planning the construction of a 20 MW floating solar power plant on Velenjsko Lake and solar power plants on landfills at the Velenje coal mine.
The company strategy is focused on increasing its renewable energy capacity as in the future TPP Sostanj will be used in case of electricity shortages and high market prices until the coal phase-out in 2033.
