Slovenian Minister of Economic Development Zdravko Pocivalsek said that Slovenia is considering a ban of electricity exports from the country in order to protect the economy from rising electricity prices.
Minister Pocivalsek said that Slovenia covers about 85 % of its electricity needs from domestic sources, but it also exports half of electricity it produces. Therefore, if it proves to be necessary for the economy, the state can intervene and temporary ban the export of electricity.
He added that the Government cannot influence the price of oil and natural gas, but it can limit the price of electricity produced in the country.
