By installing rooftop solar panels the Ljubljana airport will cover about 7 % of its annual electricity needs and reduce CO2 emissions by 200 tons per year.
The investment worth 350,000 euros was agreed earlier this year between Fraport Slovenia, local subsidiary of German company which operates Joze Pucnik airport and Slovenian company Resalta.
The rooftop solar power plant has installed capacity of 500 kW, with estimated annual electricity generation of 530 MWh. It consists of 1,347 modules covering the area of 3,000 square meters or 40 % of the garage roof area.
