The certification of Transportgas as an independent transmission system operator has been successfully completed, with the Energy Community confirming the achievement. This milestone was a central topic of discussion during a meeting between Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedovic, and the newly appointed director, Zoran Jovcic.
This certification, granted by the Energy Agency, marks a significant advancement in Serbia’s gas sector reforms. It follows the completion of all electricity sector reform targets set in the Reform Agenda up to December 2024. The certification process, which had been pending for over a decade, required considerable effort. Thanks to the dedicated work of Transportgas, Srbijagas, and the Energy Agency, Serbia has now fulfilled all the European Commission’s requirements.
The meeting also covered additional reform goals, which are outlined in the Serbian Government’s decision to adopt the 2024–2027 Reform Agenda, passed on October 3, 2024. These goals include further critical reforms in the gas sector, to be completed by June 2025.
Minister Djedovic stressed the importance of Transportgas strengthening its capabilities and taking on a larger role in the country’s energy system. This includes ensuring supply security and driving forward new gas sector projects. Transportgas representatives updated the minister on both their short-term and long-term business priorities. Key discussions focused on proposed changes to the collective agreement and the need to modernize the gas transmission infrastructure, as outlined in the company’s ten-year development plan.
