Director of state-owned gas company Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic announced that, in 2023, underground gas storage facility at Banatski Dvor will be expanded to a minimum of 650 million cubic meters, potentially to 750 million, in cooperation with Russian partners.
Bajatovic also mention the construction of the second underground gas storage in Serbia, which should be located at Srpski Itebej, with the capacity of between 800 million and 1 billion cubic meters of gas.
He also said that Serbia will have enough gas for the winter season, adding that the storage at Banatski Dvor will soon be at full capacity (550 million cubic meters) and, along with leased storage capacities in Hungary, will guarantee stable supply during the winter.
Bajatovic also commented on high gas price on the European markets. He believes that the price during the winter (Q4 2022 and Q1 2023) will be around 420-430 euros/MWh, but it will fall after the end of the heating season to below 390 euros/ MWh.
