Serbia: SEEPEX reports 4.5% increase in December 2024 electricity trading volume

In December 2024, a total of 516,677 MWh of electricity was traded on the day-ahead market of the Serbian energy exchange SEEPEX, marking a 4.5% increase compared to the previous month. The average daily traded volume was 20,320.8 MWh. The volume traded in December 2024 was 19.1% higher than in the same month of the previous year.

The average daily base price on the day-ahead market in December was 139.42 euros/MWh, reflecting a 12.8% decrease from November. Meanwhile, the average euro-peak price fell by 15.9%, reaching 161.9 euros/MWh.

SEEPEX, which officially launched on February 17, 2016, with a traded volume of 1,925 MWh, is jointly owned by the Serbian electricity transmission system operator EMS and the European Power Exchange (EPEX SPOT). The exchange aims to foster a competitive, transparent, and reliable electricity market in Serbia and southeastern Europe, contributing to the growth of trading volumes in the region. In July 2023, SEEPEX introduced an intraday market.
