During her official visit to Baku, Serbian National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabić announced that Serbia will receive additional natural gas supplies from Azerbaijan this winter, supplementing previously agreed volumes. She emphasized that these extra deliveries, requested by President Aleksandar Vučić, will be vital for ensuring energy stability during the upcoming heating season.
Brnabić also highlighted the joint Serbian-Azerbaijani project to construct a 500 MW gas-fired power plant in Niš. The €600 million investment is expected to move forward with a contract signing at the next Strategic Cooperation Council meeting.
She pointed to Azerbaijan’s expanding influence in Europe’s energy sector, citing the recent acquisition of Italian oil company API by state-owned SOCAR for €3 billion. Brnabić underlined that energy security is now a key component of national security and described Azerbaijan as one of Serbia’s most important and reliable energy partners.
