SANY Renewable Energy, a Chinese company entering Serbia’s renewable energy market for the first time, has announced that its wind power projects, Alibunar 1 and Alibunar 2, are scheduled to begin commercial operation in 2028. Together, the two wind farms will have a total installed capacity of 168 MW and are expected to generate around 480 GWh of electricity annually.
The project is designed to operate for 25 years and will contribute significantly to Serbia’s energy mix. Once connected to the grid, it will provide a consistent supply of renewable electricity, helping to reduce the country’s reliance on fossil fuels and enhance the environmental sustainability of its energy system.
SANY views this development as a strategically important step in its global mission to invest in clean energy where it is most needed. The Alibunar wind farms also mark the company’s entry into the European market. Company leaders have expressed their intention to build strong partnerships with local stakeholders and use advanced wind technologies to support Serbia’s energy transition goals and align with international sustainability targets.
Additionally, a recent agreement with Serbia’s state-owned power utility EPS has finalized terms related to energy purchasing and balance responsibility, paving the way for the smooth integration of the project into the national electricity network.
