As part of measures for curbing the effects of coronavirus outbreak on the economy, payments of subsidies for electricity produced from renewable energy sources and high-efficiency cogeneration plants are temporary suspended by Serbian Government.
the measure is only of a temporary character and once the state of emergency ends, RES electricity producers will continue to receive the payments according to the model defined in the contracts.
According to the latest data, there are 262 privileged electricity producers with the total installed capacity of 456 MW. State-owned power utility is obliged to purchase this electricity, usually during a 12-year period, while the fees are paid by end-consumers through their electricity bills. RES subsidies amount to around 14 million euros per month.
