Serbian oil company NIS, majority owned by Russian GazpromNeft, said that the supply of its petrol stations network is regular and the Pancevo oil refinery operates normally and delivers to the market all the necessary oil products without any problems.

NIS also said that it will not introduce limits for fuel purchases at its petrol stations. NIS operates the largest retail fuel network in Serbia.

NIS has secured sufficient quantities of oil products in order to make the local market regularly supplied even in the conditions of the increased demand. In 2021, Pancevo oil refinery achieved a record amount of processing of raw oil and semi-products of 3.9 million tons. In the upcoming period, the focus of NIS will be on regular deliveries of all types of fuel and stability of the market in Serbia.

In early February, Serbian Government set the maximum retail price of Euro diesel and Euro premium BMB 95 at 1.52 euros and 1.45 euros per liter, respectively. The prices of fuel are limited in order to prevent greater disturbances and maintain the living standard of citizens, given that the prices of petroleum products increased in the previous period, which directly influenced the growth in prices of all other goods and services. The measure is valid for the next 30 days.

President of the Serbian Association of Employers Nebojsa Atanackovic said earlier that fuel shortages at petrol stations are possible if the Government keeps the retail fuel price cap after 10 March, because the purchase and sale price of fuel have been equalized, providing no profit for retailers, which could push the smaller ones into bankruptcy.
