Serbian oil company NIS has embarked on a modernization initiative across all business segments, recently acquiring two new robotic drilling rigs valued at approximately €33 million. This investment marks one of the largest in the company’s history for oil services, aiming to boost operational efficiency and optimize costs while delivering environmental benefits.

The new modular drilling facilities replace conventional manual operations with advanced robotic systems, significantly enhancing both efficiency and safety. Featuring the latest EURO 5 drive technology, these rigs minimize environmental impact by reducing exhaust emissions and lowering noise levels.

Once operational, the new rigs are expected to cut drilling time by up to 20%, and they promise a space savings of 25 to 45% at drilling sites compared to older models, thereby lowering construction costs and minimizing land use. The robotic systems facilitate synchronized operations, reducing the potential for human error. Additionally, advanced technology will streamline rig maintenance and implement preventive measures through diagnostic analyses, ensuring more reliable equipment performance.
