Dusan Bajatovic, Director of the Serbian state-owned gas company Srbijagas, has confirmed that a building permit has been issued for the expansion of the Banatski Dvor underground gas storage facility. Bajatovic reported that the expansion project is proceeding as planned, with the necessary equipment defined and commissioned. He also noted that construction work is scheduled to begin in October.
The expansion project aims to increase the Banatski Dvor facility’s storage capacity by 300 million cubic meters, bringing the total capacity to 750 million cubic meters. Additionally, the maximum withdrawal capacity will be doubled to 10 million cubic meters per day. This project is a result of a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2019 between Srbijagas and Russian energy giant Gazprom.
Gazprom International Projects holds a 51% stake in the Banatski Dvor facility, while Srbijagas retains the remaining 49%.
