Serbian state-owned power utility EPS has launched a tender for the preparation of the feasibility study for the improvement of energy efficiency in its open pit coalmines in Kolubara and Kostolac basins. The tender is open until 20 January 2022.
The implementation of the system for production management leads to the development of the system for the management and control of coal quality, which, in the long term, enables the planning of the quality of the lignite delivered to thermal power plants. It will also enable a considerable reduction of the quantity of mazut for the support to the combustion process, increases the efficiency of the operations of thermal power blocks and reduces the emission of harmful gases-
After the recent shutdown of all units of TPP Nikola Tesla A (TENT A), the experts pointed to the problem of using large quantities of mazut for the combustion of lower-quality coal, which forced Serbia to import expensive mazut.
