The Serbian state-owned power utility, EPS, has initiated a public tender to connect the Petka solar power plant to the electricity distribution network.

In May, EPS entered into a service agreement with the electricity distribution system operator, EDS, to facilitate this connection. The tender’s technical specifications require compliance with all obligations outlined in that agreement.

The estimated value of the contract is approximately €180,000, with bids due by November 19.

Petka solar power plant will be EPS’s first solar facility, boasting a capacity of around 10 MW. It is set to be built on the tailings site of the Cirikovac open-pit mine, with construction expected to be completed by February 2025, according to Project Manager Jovan ToÅ¡ić.

In addition to the Petka plant, EPS has plans to develop solar power facilities at the ash disposal sites of TPP Morava and TPP Kolubara.
