David Zarkovic, Assistant Director for Power Portfolio Management at EPS, confirmed that Serbia is not facing any electricity shortages. EPS has sufficient electricity production from its own facilities and imports to meet all market demands. The overhaul of several EPS production capacities is nearing completion, with the pump-storage hydropower plant Bajina Bašta now operational and majorly overhauled thermal capacities back online.
Unit B3 at TPP Kostolac has begun trial operations and will enter continuous operation in October, adding 350 MW to the grid and enhancing electricity supply security for the winter season. EPS is also actively increasing production, storing over 550 GWh of electricity in water reservoirs, and stockpiling more than 1.5 million tons of coal, which is expected to rise to over 2 million tons by September.
