Biljana Komnenic, Acting Director of the Serbian electricity distribution system operator EDS, has affirmed that the country’s distribution system remains stable despite a significant 30% increase in electricity consumption compared to the same period last year.

Komnenic noted that the energy facilities have performed reliably, even though average temperatures are around 15 degrees higher than in 2023. She highlighted that EDS teams have been on high alert, operating around the clock with an increased workforce to respond swiftly to any issues.

In her statement, Komnenic also provided an update on ongoing infrastructure improvements, including the reconstruction of the 10 kV Kraljevo 2 substation. Originally commissioned in 1979, this project is crucial for maintaining the security and functionality of the electricity system in central Serbia.
