The Chinese company Shanghai Fengling Renewable is interested in investments in the production and storing of energy produced from renewable sources in Serbia, especially green hydrogen,
Serbia would thereby take an important place in Europe in the production of hydrogen and position itself in the future as an exporter of this energy source. This company, together with our strategic partners from Zijin Mining Group, is considering the potential construction of a hybrid facility, a solar and wind power plant in the Bor area, which would produce green hydrogen, and for Zijin, this would enable a reduction in costs – the Ministerd of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic explained.
She added that investments of around 2 billion euros in the development and construction of wind and solar farms, energy storage for the production of hydrogen and the technology for the production of energy with hydrogen fuel were planned.
Djedovic Handanovic explained that the realization of the potential investment would use the possibilities of wind energy in the Bor area and improve the efficiency of the production of electrical energy. According to her, the plan is to secure the production of energy of 1,500 megawatts, and the project is expected to reach the production of as much as 2,000 megawatts.
The complete production of electrical energy would be taken over by Zijin, whereas the surplus energy would be turned into hydrogen.
