Serbia and Azerbaijan expressed mutual interest in cooperation on the construction of new gas power plants in Serbia, at the meeting of the Ministry of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, and the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Serbia, Kamil Khasiyev.
– We have very good cooperation in the energy sector, I have personally visited Baku twice and recently sent an invitation to energy minister Shahbazov to visit Belgrade to talk about deepening the cooperation – said the minister, as announced on the website of the ministry.
She reminded that, in December 2023, the gas interconnector Serbia-Bulgaria, which enabled the supply of Serbia with Azerbaijani gas, had been put into test operation.
– We have very good and friendly relations on the level of strategic partnership in energy and other fields. The opening of a gas interconnector between Serbia and Bulgaria is an important historic event for the relations of Serbia and Azerbaijan and I am sure that we can further deepen the energy cooperation in the future – the ambassador said.
He pointed out that Baku was the host of the upcoming climate change conference (COP29) and that there was potential for cooperation with Serbia in the field of green energy.
