Spot prices of electricity for delivery on Monday, March 20, in Southeast Europe and Hungary rose significantly compared to the previous day. They ranged from 122 to 146 euros per MWh, which is 13 to 19 percent more compared to the week.
Serbia recorded the lowest day-ahead electricity price in the region on Monday – 122.36 euros per MWh. It is also one of the lowest prices in Europe. Lower prices are recorded only in the Nordic countries, Spain and Portugal.
The Hungarian market was paired with the Bulgarian and Romanian ones in most intervals on Monday, with an average price of 126 euros per MWh. These markets were slated for the weekend as well, and the price increased by 13 percent on Monday.
A similar situation was recorded on the Slovak and Croatian markets, where the average price increased by 13 percent compared to the week, to 125.9 euros per MWh. These two markets were also closed on Saturday and Sunday.
On Monday, Greece recorded the highest price in the region and in Europe – 146.16 euros per MWh. The Greek spot price increased by 19 percent compared to the previous day.
